Starting November 21st throughout the month of December, the district will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland retreat, featuring the annual tree lighting celebration and Winter Window Display Competition.
To create a festive holiday atmosphere in the district, Winter Wonderland will be hosting family-themed activities in Headhouse Square from 4pm-7pm on December 4th which will include an afternoon of carolers, horse-and-buggy tours, face painting, and balloon art leading up to Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the South Street Holiday tree. Additionally, Winter Wonderland in the South Street Headhouse District features its unique array of businesses and storefronts in the Window Decorating Contest to take place throughout the community. Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall Display, Best Traditional Holiday Themed Display, and Most Original Display; each winner will be awarded a $750 cash prize. Thought of the Day!
Keep your standards high
Hold yourself to a high standard. To raise the quality of your reality, raise your expectations.
Refuse to listen to your own excuses. Demand integrity, commitment and persistence from yourself in all your undertakings.
Keep yourself lovingly and gratefully focused on whatever is truly important to you. Let go of any urge to be cynical, and allow your most meaningful dreams to flourish within your awareness.
Get in the habit of finding and expanding what’s best, in yourself, in others, and in each situation. Learn to see the value in moments large and small, and act to make positive use of that value.
Resist the temptation to shortchange yourself or others, or to settle for anything less than your very best. This is your unique and precious life, so give it all the respect and effort it is due.
Fill each day with richness and excellence, competence and solid, honest commitment. Keep your standards high, and seek to live such that you’ll never have any regrets.
— Ralph Marston

I recently saw a horrific report on the news. "Young Cambodian Woman Murders her two children ages 8 & 12" Immediately I thought to myself, "Oh that poor woman must have been suffering from some sort of mental illness, like depression or something", now I'm no doctor, but why else would any woman want to kill her own children. I mean we all remember Andrea Yates the women from Texas who drowned all five of her children one by one, because she was suffering from post-partum depression.
Mental Illness is real people. Especially in women, because we are emotional by design.(my own words, remember I am no physician..lol) Women have so many hormones flowing in and all around them. so when a special women is saying that she is OVERWHELMED listen to her vents. It will go a long way.!:) And if you need someone to talk to, find someone fast.
